Amanda's Perspective on The Oil Spill

The oil spill is stopping my family from doing a lot of things. First it's stopping families from getting their food normally. I'm sure those people are upset because they want some fish. Not having fish would make me mad too.

Secondly, the animals are losing their lives because of the oil spill and that is very sad for the fish, whales, sharks, and more are dying. I think people really want them to stay alive.

Lastly, I eat fish and if the fishes are dying that means the market can't get fish and with no fish I'm not happy. So people get it together!

What can we do to help the oil spill?

Wow Amanda! You're right - it's going to be very hard for anyone who likes to eat fish or who does the fishing to catch what we eat! It's so sad. I'm hoping that this accident will teach us something about how to take better care of our oceans and wildlife while we learn how to find and use resources other than oil.

Thank you so much Amanda for bring such an important topic to the Kid's Day Blog. You are right it is such a sad and devastating thing for families, the animals, and the world. As you may know my favorite animals are sea turtles and whales, and it makes me so sad to think of what it is like for them to have their home polluted with oil. But I hope we learn how to take better care of our planet and to be more careful when doing something that can have such neagtive effects on the world around us.
