I Love My Music: The Entertainment Industries Messages
Your walking down the street and a car passes by, it's music blasting through the windows. You are really diggin the rhythm, but you're hearing something else. Is it the tempo? No it's the lyrics, the rapper is talking about how fighting this guy who was messing with him. You know that there are better ways to solve the problem than with violence. So, what happened to the song you were listening to a few seconds ago? Nothing. Lucky for you, your smart enough to realize that song isn't being positive. It's telling you how to ruin your future, and become a criminal. It's not fun or exciting. Though music isn't the only place you get bad ideas, also from tv, your favorite character is standing up for themselves, well that's good. But, take a second look at how they're behaving. They're insulting them back, and putting themselves down to the bullys level. Just because someone's your role model or someone you look up to doesn't mean they always do the right thing. Entertainment can teach you lessons that are wrong or right, so stick to real life to become successful, and you'll be alright.
Peace and Love,
-Karolyn

Karolyn,
First off let me say how well-written your post is! It got my attention from the first sentence because it was as if you were talking directly to me. ~Very creative. I think one of the coolest messages you give in your post is that it's very important to think for ourselves. We can look up to people and admire them, but we should never just accept what they do or what they say to be the right thing simply because we like them. You remind us to always use our own minds in thinking about the messages that music and TV give us and deciding for ourselves if those messages can help us or hurt us in everyday life. I think the message YOU give in your post is definitely one that helps!
Hi Karolyn,
Like the other responder, I was very impressed with your post. I thought you were creative and thoughtful. You're right - there are lots of ways to stand up for yourself without resorting to violence or disrespect. Keep up the excellent work!
Couldn't have said that better Karolyn! You did a great job of showing how things we love in our every day lives such as music and tv can influence us in negative ways. But it is up to us to make positive or negative choices!! You are a great living example of that!! :)
